Our Wound Care Product of the Month for the month of October is our OmniTrust Sterile Non-Woven Sponges. These sponges are made of a polyester and rayon fabric blend which gives them more strength than your traditional gauze sponge. They also have more scrubbing texture, as well as more absorbency.
Typically, these sponges are used for a wide range of dressing, cleaning, and prepping procedures. Unlike woven sponges, our Non-Woven Sponges are coarser and used in more general applications where a wound might need to be cleaned, debrided, or packed. Because they are made out of a rayon fabric blend rather than cotton, they are less linting which makes them ideal for surgical settings.
Our Non-Woven Sponges are 4-ply and come in three different sizes: 2×2”, 3×3” and 4×4”. They are typically used for superior wound management and are in fact less adherent to wounds than traditional gauze sponges, which some people prefer.
